Guide to Application

The NZIOB is a professional association. It therefore sets membership standards, which are appropriate for professionals. A ‘building professional’ is defined as an ethical person who has appropriate qualifications and whose work contributes to the development of the built environment and which entails the exercise of judgement and relevant expertise. This definition shows that the institute is broad and the members may be involved with any of the wide range of specialisations relating to the building industry.

For membership of the NZ Institute of Building to have any standing one of the requirements must be that membership is a distinction gained by successfully meeting a high standard of selection criteria.

For that reason the Institute has set down the criteria in our Guide to Membership, which must be met if an applicant is to be admitted to the various grades of membership and requires every applicant to be fairly and impartially measured against these.
