Licensed Building Practioners

With the onset of LBP (Licensed Building Practioners) on a voluntary basis from the 1st of November 2007, it will be voluntary for designers, builders, site supervisors, construction managers and carpenters.

Licensing will promote, recognise and support professional skills and behaviour in the building industry.

The DBH have released the following information documents explaining LBP.

Licensing for Builders

Occupational Licensing in the Building Industry

Currently, the DBH are running LBP workshops across New Zealand.  We will keep our members informed about workshops in their areas as they come to hand.  For information on dates for your diary, you are able to download this from the DBH website by clicking the link http://www.dbh.govt.nz/lbp-workshops

The NZIOB has hard copies of the book "Is Licensing for Me?" and can be requested by sending an email to adminnziob@nznet.gen.nz.  If you have any queries about being licensed, please call or email Peter Rasmussen, NZIOB Executive Director.

The DBH have recently passed into legislation the rules governing licensing.

LPB Rules

The NZIOB are in the trial phase of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), which will assist its members to become licensed in 2010.  For further information about CPD, click here.
