Department of Building and Housing
The DBH was established in 2004 and at that time took over what was known as the Building Industry Authority (BIA).

Since that time it has increased its role and has full responsibility for the dispute resolution in the building and housing sector.

The NZIOB has worked closely with the DBH since its inception proposals for the licensing of building practioners. The DBH maintains a host of valuable information on building services and controls at its website.

Construction Industry Council
The NZIOB is a founding member of the Construction Industry Council. The council is an important pressure group with members working in alliance to promote the interests of the building industry to government.

BCITO
The BCITO is the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation. The organisation has been appointed by the Government to develop and implement industry qualifications for the building and construction sector. For further information go to their website;

Green Industry Council
The New Zealand Green Building Council is an organisation that has been formed to lead New Zealandˇ¦s focus on green building. They are a Non-Government Organization (NGO) made up of industry leaders who are committed to developing market based solutions that help deliver efficient, healthier, innovative buildings for New Zealand.
