Our industry colleagues, the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) are seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced NZIOB members to fill guest speaker roles at workshops that deliver the BCITO’s National Certificate in Construction (Supervisor) programme. This qualification provides participants with training to develop the skills needed to manage both people and processes used on construction sites. Guest speakers are sought to speak on a range of topics that includes:

  • Construction plan development;
  • Written and oral communication;
  • Employment relationships;
  • Time management concepts and methods;
  • Administrative processes;
  • Supervision principles; and
  • Management of interpersonal conflict

The role of the guest speaker is to share their experiences and give examples of how the content has been applied in real situations, with the purpose of adding value to the learning already undertaken by the trainee. The courses will be run across the country and will be held up to three times a year within regions. Classes are scheduled between 5.30pm and 9pm depending on local preferences. Guest speakers will be remunerated by the BCITO.
