The NZIOB is hosting the inaugural BIMinNZ Conference, which will be held in Wellington on Wednesday the 8th of May 2019. This event is unique in that it is a one-day conference on Building Information Modelling (BIM), that is being run by the NZIOB on behalf of the BIM Acceleration Committee (BAC). The speaker selection and conference programme is being undertaken by BAC’s NZ BIM Training Group. BIMinNZ is therefore a construction technology forum envisaged and developed by industry, for industry. The event is a follow-on from the successful BIM101 seminar series that the NZIOB ran the logistics for in 2016.

The following US based keynote speakers are already confirmed for BIMinNZ:

  • Dave Rendall, author of The Freak Factor
  • Brendan Dillon, BIM Manager at Denver International Airport*
*Denver International Airport is recognised as one of the world’s most successful completed BIM projects of scale.

Several New Zealand and Australian speakers are also confirmed to speak across the conference’s session topics:

  • Setting Client Requirements
  • Design
  • Construction
  • Specialist Trades
  • Asset and Facilities Management

The BIMinNZ Conference Committee is chaired by Dennis Burns (MNZIOB), whose objective is that “BIMinNZ will not only provide relevant and inspiring local and international examples of where BIM sits within the project environment, the event will also provide a forum for conference delegates to meet, discuss, interrogate and communicate.”

The NZIOB would like to acknowledge the funding support of the Building Research Levy, in allowing BIMinNZ to be realised. The prospect of an industry curated showcase of BIM that has received government backing, has captured the imagination of the New Zealand BIM community, with 125+ registering their interest since a recent announcement of the event by the NZIOB.

The event will be held at Te Papa’s Sounding Theatre on Wednesday the 8th of May 2019. Registrations will open in November. To ensure that you receive the first wave of invitations to register for BIMinNZ, log your details on the Expression of Interest Register.
