Matt McGuinness has assumed the mantle of Northern Chapter President for the New Zealand Institute of Building. In his own words:

“I have a genuine passion for construction, having grown up in the industry as part of the LT McGuinness family owned business. Five years ago, I relocated from Wellington to Auckland to set up and manage our Auckland operations. Prior to my move, I played key roles in delivering various projects, including prominent Wellington apartment complexes; One Market Lane, Chews Lane, and Clyde Quay Wharf.

“The construction industry is developing at a rapid and demanding pace, including the ever-changing area of risk allocation models. It is a market that is operating at capacity, and we are seeing the continued implementation of new technologies. These factors contribute to a challenging and diverse construction landscape. Like many NZIOB members, I work with these challenges daily and look to the Institute to provide a vital platform for the industry to find its common voice on sector issues.

“I have been a member of the NZIOB for six years, serving as a board member on both the Institute’s Central and Northern Chapters. During that time, I have seen the NZIOB evolve into a key industry player.

“We have an energetic team on the Northern Chapter Board, which is made up of various industry representatives from; contractor, project management, tertiary and consultancy backgrounds. This ensures we bring balanced and wide-ranging views to the table. As a board, we will continue to provide events and opportunities for our members (current and prospective) including reinvigorating the Northern Chapter Student Awards. Our objective is to keep our content and events relevant, which will ultimately reinforce the value of NZIOB in the construction industry.”
