The NZIOB’s Awards programme began in 1994, with the initial emphasis being on recognising the achievements of project managers running commercial construction projects. Over the years, categories such as the ‘Innovation Award’, ‘Young Achiever Award’, and ‘Safety Excellence Award’ have been introduced to provide a broader industry focus. For 2018, the New Zealand Building Industry Awards has introduced a ‘Consultant’s Award’ category, and an ‘Interdisciplinary Collaboration Award’ category. The descriptions of the new categories are:
New for 2018, this award recognises high performance of design consultants (architects, engineers, quantity surveyors or project managers) who have contributed to the design, documentation and delivery stages of a successful project; and
Interdisciplinary Collaboration Award
Another new award for 2018, recognising exceptional examples of collaborative partnerships between consultant(s) and contractor.
The result is that the New Zealand Building Industry Awards now has a category that all high-performing building practitioners can enter. We have also made it easier to enter online, so there’s no excuse not to.
To encourage the full array of Design Consultants to enter the new ‘Consultants Award’ category, Engineering NZ, NZIA, and NZIQS members will receive NZIOB member rates (FREE) for entry.
