NZ Institute of Building and Richard Johnstone of Left Bank Chambers, invite you to a Legal Breakfast. We are hosting two Legal Breakfast sessions – one in Christchurch and one in Dunedin.

During the session Richard will cover a selection of recent topical court cases, distilling points which will be of interest and importance for members in all sectors the building industry. There will also be time set aside for Q&A.
 
The selected cases will cover:

  • Force majeure clauses, severe weather, and frustration
  • How limitation applies to cross claims and claims for contribution against liable parties
  • Contractual terms specifying means of service of CCA notices
  • Terminating for material costs escalation
  • Approach to measuring costs to rectify defective building work
