Opportunity to help frame second BIMinNZ conference

In 2019, the NZIOB hosted the inaugural BIMinNZ Conference. The event attracted an audience of 250+ and was successful in promoting the adoption of BIM across the New Zealand construction industry supply-chain. The second BIMinNZ Conference is proposed for March 2022 and the NZIOB is seeking Expressions of Interest from BIM practitioners who wish to be involved in the Conference Committee.

NZIOB Kalmar Fishing Competition rescheduled

The NZ Construction Industry Council (NZCIC) had the chance to sit down with privacy and risk operations experts, Mark and Caroline Carver of TwoBlackLabs, to learn about the revisions to the Privacy Act that were instituted in December.

Update on Workforce Development Councils

The establishment of the six Workforce Development Councils (WDCs) is well advanced, which includes the standing-up of the Construction and Infrastructure WDC. Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are being sought from construction industry leaders who have an interest in becoming a member of the Construction and Infrastructure WDC Appointments Committee.

Cost pressures in busy construction industry start to ramp up

Recent Stats NZ data shows that for the December quarter, the construction industry was charging out 0.5 percent more than it was in the previous quarter. This included a 0.9 percent increase in building prices and a 0.8 percent rise in the cost of construction services such as carpentry.
