XFrame is a construction technology company creating wall framing systems that can be easily adapted, deconstructed, and reused as a building’s needs change over time. XFrame is a commercial spin-out company from Victoria University of Wellington, which is led by Ged Finch, who developed the XFrame concept as his research project for a Master of Building Science degree.

Should COVID-19 Lockdown settings extending beyond 7 days for Auckland/Coromandel and 3 days for the rest of New Zealand, the NZIOB will be reintroducing our webinar series. The NZIOB’s Young Professional Advisor (YPA) Committee serves the role of providing strategic guidance to the NZIOB National Board from the perspective of millennials. One of their recent proposals was for the NZIOB to produce a construction-related podcast, and we are pleased to announce that this project is well underway.

Southern Region site visit to Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre

On 10 August, NZIOB members from the Southern Region attended a site visit to Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre in Christchurch, hosted by Ōtākaro and CPB. Members got to see inside this exciting key anchor project, and some of the spaces that will be available when it’s all complete – this included the 50-metre competition pool, diving pool, aquatic leisure area, and multi-purpose indoor courts.

Welcome to our new National Board Chair, John Hemi

Following the NZIOB’s recent election, the NZIOB is delighted to formally introduce John Hemi, the new Chair of the NZIOB National Board. Starting as a Graduate Engineer, John has held Regional and General Management roles in the industry and is currently employed at Te Waihanga (Infracom) as an Advisor on Major Projects and the Construction Sector Accord.
