In comparison to the significant construction industry support the NZIOB received for the New Zealand Building Industry Awards on 30 October, the uptake of the Institute's Built to Last conference, scheduled to occur on the same date, didn’t meet expectations. The NZIOB will therefore not be running the conference this coming Friday, rather it will take a bit of time over the balance of 2020 to assess the options available to develop and deliver a construction-focused conference to industry at some point across the 2021/2022 financial year. It is anticipated that the negative impact that COVID-19 has had on construction companies Continuing Professional Development budgets will have abated after 1 April 2021. 

The NZIOB Board believes it has a role to play in providing industry with high-quality educational content and showcasing new construction technologies, practices, and approaches. Watch this space over the coming months for an announcement on a 2021/2022 NZIOB conference and/or other educational programme channels.
