Graeme Birkhead (NZIOB Past-President, NZIOB Charitable Education Trust Board member) will be NZIOB’s Acting Chief Executive starting Monday, 9 May and will be in the role until such time as a permanent Chief Executive is in place.

Graeme will step into the role as NZIOB Chief Executive while recruitment is underway for a new Chief Executive. This follows Malcolm Fleming giving notice to the NZIOB Board that he is moving to a fellow construction sector membership association, New Zealand Certified Builders (NZCB), to take up the role of Chief Executive. Malcolm's last day at the NZIOB is today.

Graeme has over 30 years’ experience in the building sector and spent the bulk of his construction career at Arrow International, including 20 years as their Northern Director. Before joining Arrow, he worked with internationally acclaimed OVE ARUP & Partners, Consulting Engineers, in London. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the University of Auckland Engineering School and began his career with Fletcher Construction.

In other changes at the NZIOB, Hayley Larsen who has an events management background has been appointed Operations Manager following the departure of Susan Duley. Susan held the role for the past four years and is moving to Fulton Hogan. Susan’s last day at NZIOB was Wednesday 4 May.

Raynor Redman, who also has extensive events management experience will take over as Events Manager from Chloe Stephens. Chloe is going on parental leave from Friday, 27 May.
