Webinar: Tradie Athlete – Optimising Construction Performance

News from the

Tradie Athlete director, Dr Andy Reid recognises that workers who are doing physical jobs are often more active than many athletes training for competition. Behaviour change is more likely to happen when workers reframe themselves as athletes and adopt more productive behaviours, such as optimising movement (skill), nutrition (fuel), and recovery strategies.

Andy has over 20 years’ experience in Sports and Exercise Physiology including 7 years in the leadership group of New Zealand's High Performance Cycling programme, culminating with their most successful Olympic Games in London in 2012. Currently Andy spends two days a week rehabbing people from injury for a fast, safe, and sustainable return to work. He also carries out small group training sessions around manual handling and has developed guidelines for getting the most out of sleep, food, movement and mindset improvement. Andy spends 2-3 days a week on the tools working with his neighbour who has a landscaping business, which allows him to put his tradie athlete theories into immediate practice.
