Northern Region Golf Day all go for 2021

The ever-popular NZIOB PlaceMakers Northern Region Golf Day is being held on Thursday, 25 February 2021 at the North Shore Golf Club in Auckland. As usual, there will be a putting contest, spot prizes, pre-tournament BBQ, and a prize giving dinner to follow.

Construction boom triggers workforce demand forecast

Work is underway by the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) to get a better picture of the number of construction and infrastructure workers needed by the construction sector over the next 15 years. The research project will forecast workforce demand to cover residential and commercial construction as well as civil infrastructure like roading, three waters (drinking, waste, and storm), hospitals and schools.

The number of female apprentices working in the male-dominated trades (such as construction) more than doubled this year, from 845 last year to 1785. This has come as part of a broader spike since the Labour-led Government made all apprenticeships free in July this year, part of an effort to stimulate the economy after the Covid-19 outbreak.
