The awards evening will take place on 30 August at the Viaduct Event Centre in Tāmaki | Auckland.

New insulation rules set to ramp up building costs

A major debate is looming over the quality and amount of insulation required in the roof, walls, floors and windows of new builds and small buildings. MBIE has released a discussion paper that proposes to raise insulation standards and the energy efficiency of new homes and buildings.

Behaviour change is more likely to happen when workers reframe themselves as athletes and adopt more productive behaviours, such as optimising movement (skill), nutrition (fuel), and recovery strategies.

NZIOB Strategy Day

Every two years the NZIOB holds a Strategy Day to review progress, discuss challenges, and decide on future goals. On Friday 26 March, a group of 12 construction industry representatives generously gave their time to attend the Institute’s 2021 Strategy Day in Auckland and were expertly guided through the process by Peter Harrison from ThinkPlace.

BOINZ recently launched their new dedicated industry TV show Breakfast with BOINZ, a fortnightly virtual 30-minute TV show providing a unique communication channel across the building industry. This week, NZIOB Chief Executive, Malcolm Fleming was interviewed by BOINZ TV host, Greg Ward.

CHASNZ & ACC partnership to help workers stay safe

The construction industry’s high injury rate is a key reason why ACC has entered a new partnership with CHASNZ. The $3.5 million investment over two years, is the first stage of a five-year partnership, which will allow CHASNZ to ramp up health promotion and protection initiatives that will reduce the harm caused by occupational illness and injury in the construction sector.

Consultation for the 2021 Building Code update is now open

Every year, MBIE consults on the Building Code and selected acceptable solution and verification method documents, to provide an opportunity for the public and the building and construction sector to have their say on the proposed changes. Consultation for the 2021 Building Code is now open with submissions due on 28 May.
