Construction begins on Wellington’s first base-isolated apartment building

LATEST NEWS

Victoria Lane Apartments is a $140 million mixed-use development and one of Wellington’s first major construction projects to start after lockdown. Designed by Athfield Architects, developed by Willis Bond & Co, and constructed by LT McGuinness, the project will see close to 300 jobs provided over the two-and-a-half-year build programme and is a major boost not only to the construction sector, but for the wider economy. The building will include 24 base isolators, effectively separating the building structure from the ground, and will also be wrapped in a diagonal grid of steel.
