Construction boom triggers workforce demand forecast

Work is underway by the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) to get a better picture of the number of construction and infrastructure workers needed by the construction sector over the next 15 years. The research project will forecast workforce demand to cover residential and commercial construction as well as civil infrastructure like roading, three waters (drinking, waste, and storm), hospitals and schools. Greg Durkin, the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation’s (BCITO) interim chief executive, said: "infrastructure was an integral part of the post-Covid-19 recovery."
