NZIOB AGM and Christ Church Cathedral site visit

LATEST NEWS

The 37th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NZIOB was held in Christchurch on Tuesday the 28th of July. The AGM was bookended by a tour to the Christ Church Cathedral site and a presentation on that project. For the pre-AGM component, a good-sized group was taken through the Cathedral site to view progress on the first phase of physical works including substantial enabling and temporary protection works, clearing out of contamination and livestock, and providing long term shoring of the existing building. For the post-AGM presentation, Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Project Director, Keith Paterson, provided an overview of the project history, procurement process, and construction methodology.

The 2020 AGM marked several first-time initiatives for the NZIOB. The AGM component was livestreamed to members to enable out of region members to attend virtually, while the Christ Church Cathedral site visit and presentation was filmed. The purpose of the site visit recording was to create a short highlights reel that the Institute will use to showcase what a regional NZIOB event looks like. The NZIOB acknowledges the support of GIB®, which enabled the Southern Region Committee to deliver a classic NZIOB event, while incorporating some modern updates that on one hand benefit existing members, and on the other, provide marketing collateral to support the Institute’s ongoing membership drive programme.
