NZS 3910 Standards Revision Committee announced

LATEST NEWS

NZS 3910:2013 Conditions of contract for building and civil engineering construction (NZS 3910) is used as the foundation for the majority of New Zealand contracts in the building, engineering, construction and infrastructure industry sectors (the construction sector).

NZS 3910 has not been updated since 2013. This means it has not kept pace with legislative and other changes in the construction sector, resulting in a proliferation of special conditions to the standard form for individual projects. The review of NZS 3910 has been funded jointly by industry and government, with the NZIOB being an industry contributor to the project costs.

The Construction Sector Accord and the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, Te Waihanga, have jointly commissioned a review of NZS 3910 and have engaged Standards New Zealand to lead and manage the process.

The Construction Sector Accord (through MBIE) and the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission - Te Waihanga, are the joint commissioners and have appointed Standards New Zealand to lead and manage the process for the comprehensive revision of NZS 3910. The Commissioners invited recognised construction sector stakeholders to make nominations for the 25-person NZS 3910. The NZIOB nominated three members, all of whom were accepted by Standards NZ. Those members are:

  • David Wilkie (Chair of the NZS3910 Standards Review Committee)
  • John Malthus
  • Natasha Possenniskie

The Institute is aware of another three NZIOB members who have also been appointed to the NZS3910 Standards Review Committee: NZIOB Chair, John Hemi (via Infracom - Te Waihanga); Paul O’Brien (via NZIQS); and Peter Fehl (via Universities NZ).

Congratulations to all six NZIOB members, who are part of a committee tasked with undertaking an important workstream on behalf of the construction sector.
