NZIOB National Board February strategy session

The outcome of the 26 March ’21 NZIOB Strategy Day was that the Institute has four focuses for the upcoming two-year period. Three focuses to get on with immediately (active) and one longer term goal to envisage what the NZIOB will look like in 5-10 years’ time. Action on how to tackle the longer term goal is being undertaken at a half-day strategy refresh session for the board in February 2022.

New Plymouth District Council wins Accord Beacons Award

The inaugural Construction Sector Accord Beacons Award trophy has gone to New Plymouth District Council (NPDC) for its supply chain leadership approach. The trophy was presented virtually by Hon Poto Williams, Building & Construction Minister, during a live awards ceremony at Infrastructure New Zealand’s 2021 Building Nations virtual event.

Construction Productivity Group Report

The Construction Productivity Group is comprised of eleven senior construction practitioners with broad representation across the vertical construction supply-chain. The NZIOB has a linkage to the group by virtue of five of the group being NZIOB members. Their report titled, ‘Improving New Zealand Construction Industry Productivity', has just been released.

BIMinNZ transition from the BAC to NZIOB

The NZIOB National Board has approved the transition of the BIMinNZ workstreams from the BIM Acceleration Committee (BAC) across to the NZIOB. A BIMinNZ Steering Group has been established and will work with the NZIOB National Office to deliver projects and events that promote BIM adoption across the construction supply-chain.

Southern Region Golf Day teams battle it out

The sold-out Southern Region Golf Day went ahead on Friday, 29 October as planned, adhering to Alert Level 2 protocols. The event was another great success, with 27 teams competing for the coveted top prizes. Most attendees confirmed they will be back next year to battle it out all over again.

COVID-19 Update for the Building and Construction Sector

This week has seen big, albeit expected, changes announced in New Zealand’s approach to managing the COVID-19 pandemic. CHASNZ is currently working with industry and Government to define appropriate protocols for building and construction activity under the new Traffic Light system.
