If Chelsea Roper​ worked in an office she would not have to worry about where to put used tampons, but portaloos on construction sites were not built with women in mind. Roper, an apprentice builder in Queenstown, was busy finding ways to dispose of sanitary products when she realised others were facing the same issue.

Construction growth to outpace manufacturing this decade, says new global forecast

Construction will be an engine of global economic growth in the decade to 2030, with output expected to be 35% higher than in the ten years to 2020, according to a new global forecast. Pent-up household savings, pandemic stimulus programmes, and population growth will combine to spur average annual growth of 3.6% between now and 2030.

BIMinNZ is a one-day conference on Building Information Modelling (BIM) representing an industry partnership between the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) and the BIM Acceleration Committee (BAC). The inaugural BIMinNZ Conference in 2019 drew an audience of 270 and was considered a great success. The second BIMinNZ Conference will be held in Wellington on Thursday, 10 March 2022.

COVID-19 Alert Level 4 and building material supply-chain issues have delayed the seismic restrengthening of the NZIOB Central Region Quiz Night’s traditional venue, Harbourside Function Centre. For this reason, the 2021 Quiz Night has been cancelled but we are delighted to be able to confirm a date for the 2022 Quiz Night, Thursday 8 July.
