Diversity and inclusion – the right thing for construction

The Construction Sector Accord has produced new research and a roadmap to promote and support diversity in construction. The project aimed to better understand the barriers to diversity and what gaps exist in the industry, and then map the steps to help build a sustainable, diverse, and inclusive workforce.

BRANZ would like to invite NZIOB members to take part in an industry-wide survey on the uptake of engineered wood products (EWPs) in the construction industry. They are seeking a diverse range of views and experiences across the sector no matter how big or small the company is.

Changes to COVID-19 reinfection advice

The Ministry of Health has updated its advice around possible reinfection with COVID-19 within 90 days of a previous infection. If a person develops COVID-19 symptoms, and it has been 29 days or more since their previous infection, they should take a rapid antigen test (RAT).

Applications now open for new work visa holders from offshore

A simplified AEWV policy begun on 1 July, allowing migrants offshore to apply for a work visa to work in New Zealand for an accredited employer. Under the new AEWV policy, employers need to be accred ited and have completed a job check before they can hire a migrant from offshore.

Tākina, Wellington Convention Centre nears completion

For those of you who were not able to attend the site tour of Tākina, Wellington’s Convention and Exhibition Centre, on 22 June, the new convention centre is nearing completion. The centre will hold over 5,000 people and is spread over 930 square metres. The largest space can hold 1600 people.
