Mark Sawyer is Director of Industry Strategy for Construction, at Trimble in the United States. Mark joined Trimble in 2012 as a result of its acquisition of Vico Software where he was President & CEO. Before Vico, he was President & CEO of @Last Software, the makers of SketchUp, where he led that company’s merger with Google. From 1993 to 2000 Mark was with Autodesk finally serving as Vice President and General Manager of the AEC division.
With this background, Mark is very conversant with construction industry technologies; and with the investment sector’s growing appetite for companies operating in that space. “Between 2010 and 2015 venture capital firms increased investment in construction technology fivefold, and the funding of companies focused on digital technologies for construction increased eightfold” says Mark. “Add to that the general trends in digital computing; many of which will directly benefit construction, and a clearer picture emerges for the digitization of construction.”
A key part of Mark’s role at Trimble is to identify product and platform technology strategy for Trimble’s construction solutions portfolio. His topic at ‘Constructing our World’ is ‘the Future of Digital Technologies in Construction’, which ties in well with a conference that is asking the question, what does the future of the construction industry look like?
Seminar dates are Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th of March register at www.constructingourworld.com
