See Who's Coming to 'Constructing our World': Lloyd Rubidge, South Africa

News from the

Lloyd Rubidge is a Registered Architect and Director at Van Der Merwe Miszewski Architects (VDMA) in South Africa.
Lloyd is an Architect who has long held an interest in the combination of contemporary technologies with sustainable ideas and practices. He has gained experience through a number of ‘green’ projects, including a variety of Green Star rated projects.
These ideas have been incorporated into a significant development project at the historic Victoria & Alfred (VA) Waterfront precinct in Cape Town, notably the ambition to provide buildings and place that are aligned to the communities we wish to be living in; good public transport options, a community in which people can walk to most things, low carbon footprint, low building running costs etc.
Lloyd’s presentation at ‘Constructing our World’ is titled “The Silo District development at the V+A
Waterfront in Cape Town”. The presentation will showcase the development of a sustainable precinct around an industrial heritage building (an old Grain Silo), with an intrinsic component of the development being the creation of a new urban pedestrian district adjacent to Cape Town’s waterfront. The topics of sustainability and working in with a ‘name’ UK Architect will be covered, as will the challenges of delivering an international standard of quality within the constraints of an African budget.

Seminar dates are Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th of March. Visit to register today!
