Weekly NZCIC & CHASNZ COVID-19 update

News from the

SOURCE

The theme for this week’s NZCIC/CHASNZ weekly update is 'preparing for the return to work'. It contains clarification on areas of ambiguity within the government guidelines, including:

  • Works that can be undertaken to prepare sites for a restart on Tuesday 28 April
  • Physical distancing; the one-metre distancing rule on sites is absolute

The ‘Looking Forward’ section touches on some of the planned government investment in horizontal and vertical infrastructure, as well as housing.

With the fluidity of the COVID-19 environment, the NZCIC/CHASNZ weekly updates are a valuable catch-all of construction advocacy and collaboration (government/industry and between industry associations) from the past week. As an industry, construction will emerge from COVID-19 better placed than most industries, and restart quickly and safely.
