The NZIOB led bim101-an insight seminar series has now been completed, with the formal feedback received being overwhelmingly positive. A common theme in the survey responses was that there is clearly an appetite for the next installment, bim201.

bim101-an insight, by the numbers:

• 870 registrants
• 674 attendees
• Nine seminars
• Six locations

The team that prepared and delivered the bim101-an insight material is the ‘bim industry training group’. Following their review of the project, the group has finalised the bim101-an insight Workbook (Click here to download), and confirmed that they will return in 2017 to deliver bim201. As the name suggests, bim201 will be more technical in nature, with material designed to be informative to those who have now made the commitment to incorporate BIM as part of their business practice.

The ‘bim industry training group’ is comprised of representatives from all five construction industry membership organisations that were invited by BRANZ and the BIM Acceleration Committee to receive free training at the 2015 ‘BIM Best Practice NZ’ seminars.

On behalf of BRANZ, BAC, and our membership organisation colleagues, the NZIOB would like to take the opportunity to thank the ‘bim industry training group’ representatives, and their employers, for the considerable amount of time that they have voluntarily given to the bim101-an insight project. The group is comprised of:

• Dennis Burns (Chair), Archaus Architects, NZIOB
• Craig Watkins, Hawkins, IPENZ
• Peter Jeffs, Architectus Architects, NZIA
• Glenn Jowett, AECOM, NZIOB
• David McDonald, John Leen Plumbing, NZSTCF
• Keeley Pomeroy, AECOM, NZIQS

With BRANZ, BAC and five Institutes supporting the program, plus 24 industry sponsors (click here to view), this event demonstrated that the construction industry can come together to support events that will contribute to the collective raising of performance and productivity within our sector.
