Vacancy: National Events Manager

The New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) is looking for a self-motivated and dynamic event management professional to join our small Wellington-based team. Working closely with a high-energy CEO will allow a talented performer the opportunity to broaden their experience and competencies.

The role involves event management of multiple events, so we are looking for someone who has experience in prioritising their tasks and juggling competing demands. An underlying requirement is also to assist the Institute’s CEO in providing the NZIOB membership and its stakeholders with exceptional service delivered in a high-performance manner.

NZIOB is a professional membership organisation that uniquely represents practitioners who are involved in the design, documentation, and delivery of construction projects, or those engaged in a related field. Like the construction industry itself, the NZIOB is collegial, collaborative, and immersed in great projects.

The NZIOB offers a flexible working environment, with the ability for its team members to spread the agreed weekly hours (up to 30 for this role) across three to five days, to suit. There is the opportunity also to split the working week up with days in the office and days working remotely.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Event management of national events programme (conferences, awards, workshops, roadshows)
  • Event management support of regional events programme (site visits, networking events, golf and fishing competitions)
  • Communications support
  • Project management support 

Qualifications:

It is envisaged that the applicant will hold a bachelor’s degree in a field that has some relationship to either the skill-sets required of the role or the construction/property sectors. It is desirable that the applicant have not less than five years post-graduate work experience. 

Remuneration:

The remuneration package provided will be commensurate with the qualifications, skills, knowledge, and experience of the applicant. As a guide, an hourly rate of $33 - $35 is being offered to a candidate with a strong track record in events management or project management. The NZIOB is an equal opportunity employer.
