Description

SITE VISIT |  WELLINGTON | CPD :3

Join the Institute of Building to visit the Naylor Love Wellington City Mission project - Whakamaru; a name gifted by Mana Whenua.

This building is unique in both design and operation as a transformative community hub that provides 24/7 wraparound support and community services. The services include a pay-as-you-feel 120-person café, social supermarket, healthcare/medical facility, sacred space, public showers and commercial laundry.

The project includes 35 residential apartments and five two-bedroom units of unique structure made up of lightweight steel framing and CLT flooring. The innovative approach to this building utilises BIM – digital technologies used to produce a fully federated model.

This project has relied heavily on donations, the City Mission team have done a fantastic job at rallying support from throughout the region. The project team of Kensway Consultants, Silvester Clark, Three Line Studio and Naylor Love have brought the project to life.

On this Site Visit you will see the project as it enters its fit-out phase. Project Manager Ken Johnston will lead the tour and fill attendees in on the project's journey including the learning opportunities and wins.
