Controlling the spread of airborne diseases in commercial buildings

LATEST NEWS

Managing ventilation, heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems can aid in reducing the risk of airborne diseases travelling within a building. It is important that these systems remain well maintained and maximised to reduce the risk of airborne pathogens spreading.

MBIE’s Building System Performance (BSP) branch which provides policy and technical advice on New Zealand’s building system, rules and standards, and implements building legislation and regulations to meet New Zealand’s current and future needs has provided guidance on controlling the spread of airborne diseases in commercial buildings.

More information on the guidance and the guidance document is available here.
