Despite a change of date due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, almost 200 fishermen and women turned out for the annual NZIOB Kalmar Fishing Competition on Friday, 7 May. Lots of fish were pulled in, and some of them were whoppers! Thank you to all the event sponsors for their support in making this event happen.

Prizes were awarded for:

Biggest Snapper – Jacky Wong on the Livefirm boat (3.82kg)
Biggest John Dory – Matt Lay on the Harts Fasteners boat (0.9kg)
Biggest Trevally – Matt Bird on the Ramsetreid boat (1.89kg)
Biggest Kahawai – Simon Yates on the Legasea boat (2.29kg)
Biggest Kingfish – Reuben Spath on The Labour Exchange boat (11.135kg)
Biggest Fish Caught by a Woman – Trudy Haesler on the GIB boat (1.725kg)
