This week the NZIOB ran two webinars, both of which were part of a COVID-19 themed series that sought to provide the NZIOB membership and broader construction industry with timely, relevant, and immediately useful content. The eight webinars that ran across COVID-19 Levels 3 and 4 were all free to members, and collectively attracted approximately 2,900 registrations. The two key themes of the COVID-19 webinar series, Wellbeing and Contracts, will be returning in June, with each exploring emerging challenges and developments that reflect the new environment that we will be in a month from now.
The NZIOB and Site Safe collaboration will continue, as we develop a follow-up series of webinars to address wellbeing issues that arise once we are out of this current fast-changing and uncertain environment. The content of the follow-up series will be framed by what Site Safe and Mates in Construction team members observe on their daily site visits over the coming weeks. Our expectation is that we will be delivering the next wave of wellbeing webinars in June. We will communicate details of those webinars through both NZIOB and Site Safe channels.
The NZIOB and MinterEllisonRuddWatts collaboration will continue, though the focus of the next webinar will change from contracts to the legal ramifications of the government’s announcement that a major element of its COVID-19 rebuild plan involves a law change. The aim of the law change is to fast track eligible development and infrastructure projects under the Resource Management Act.
Other upcoming webinars
The NZIOB is currently producing a suite of webinars on a range of other topics that are scheduled to be run from mid-May. Webinars under development include:
- The state of, and outlook for, the New Zealand construction supply-chain
- Governance in the current COVID-19 environment – with a focus on companies operating in the construction industry
- Employment issues and considerations under COVID-19
NZIOB members who have missed any of the eight COVID-19 themed webinars that we have run to date can access the videos through the membership portal under 'Webinars'.
