Winning work and weathering the storm
It’s a buyers’ market in the Construction Industry right now, multiple (and wildly different) tenders are coming in for jobs. If you’re trying to win those jobs how can you make sure your tender makes it to the top of the pile while also setting yourself up for success and not taking on too much risk? If you’re on the other side, wading through those tenders how do you see though the ‘good deals’ to know which contractors are viable.
This workshop will bring together real perspectives of consultants, contractors and subcontractors to help you set up your project and business for success. They will look directly at issues many are facing right now in the industry – how can you be across the key risks – how to price them, how to best capture them, what to look for, and what is a reasonable level of risk to take on.

Speakers
Natasha Possenniskie is a passionate construction industry professional with extensive experience in New Zealand and abroad, spanning both public and private sectors. She is the Founding Director of Urban Outcomes Limited.
Natasha has a range of specialties including project recovery, independent Engineer to the Contract / Independent Certifier services, project management and independent project oversight. She is skilled at managing projects which involve a significant level of stakeholder engagement, live operational environments or complicated staging of works. Having fulfilled roles as client, consultant, main contractor and subcontractor, Natasha is uniquely placed to view a project from a range of perspectives.
Garyth Jones is a Project Manager at NZ Strong Construction and has worked in various roles across New Zealand’s construction industry over the past two decades.
Garyth was awarded the CARTERS $25-$50 Million Project Award at the 2023 NZ Building People Awards for his work in leading the South East Asia Precinct at Auckland Zoo. It’s not the first time Garyth has been honoured at the Awards, notably he was awarded the Supreme Award at the 2015 Awards.
Brigitte Knill has been involved in the construction industry for more than 25 years, where her main focus has been active Fire Protection. She has been General Manager/Director of Triangle Fire Protection for close to 20 years and thrives in the diverse challenges of running a large trade contracting business where no two days are the same. Brigitte is a Director of BCTF (formerly BCITO), a Director of Site Safe NZ Ltd, a member of NZ Institute of Directors and the current Contractor Representative for the FPANZ (Fire Protection Association of NZ).
Raji Rai is a Project Director at The Building Intelligence Group. She started out her career in engineering before making the move to the management side of things. She has over ten year of experience managing and directing projects in New Zealand working with both small and large companies on range of projects sized from 200m2 to 15,000m2. Raji is highly experienced in project management, stakeholder management and is an expert in bringing high quality commercial and interiors design to life.
Alex Harris (at Auckland workshop)
Alex Harris is a Lead Quantity Surveyor at Construction Cost Consultants (CCC). He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor carrying out a wide range of work for clients across various sectors. He is now based in Auckland, having started his QS career in London ten years ago. The majority of Alex’s work has been in the commercial sector with refurbishments and fit-outs, along with this he also has experience in residential, retail, and public sector projects.
