Details on the site visits from the project teams:

Site 6 Wynyard Quarter

The Hawkins team are in the final stages of the Wynyard Quarter Innovation Precinct – Site 6. This site is made up of three new unique developments.

Situated on Tiramarama Lane, Halsey Street and Pakenham Street, site 6's multi-faceted buildings will each have their own unique identity featuring a mixture of retail, food and beverage and commercial space. The Halsey St and Pakenham Buildings will be the largest, at 10 levels in total, with two of those below ground.

The Flowers building will be the smallest sitting at just three stories featuring with a vast event space. This project is working towards a 6 green star rating, meaning site-specific environmental plans have been developed to ensure the building achieves this world-renowned certification.

The Grand Hotel Chancellor

The new Hotel Grand Chancellor for Auckland will have 191 guestrooms, featuring a ground floor lobby with cafe, open atrium, large green wall planting and limestone wall panels. First floor features a large restaurant and buffet space with separable function and meeting rooms. Common spaces focus on intricate ceiling and lighting details highlighting woodgrain paneling and bronze feature metalwork.

The tight footprint and clients drive to maximise every inch of space have made for a challenging project. Resourcing issues the industry faced during the final complications of Covid added further pressure to the project. Services co-ordination along with architectural features while following strict acoustic and passive fire requirements have made for a complex journey. Despite challenges along the way the full project team remains collaborative and positive as the project enters the final stages.
