After 26 years serving the community H20 Xtream Aquatic Centre was due for an overhaul.

Join the Institute to take a look at the facility now in in its final stages.  

The upgrade project was first proposed, consulted on and supported by Council and the community in 2018. The project officially started in 2022 with Maycroft Construction, the facility closed to the public on 7 February 2023 and is due to open again in early 2025.

The upgrade will see the state-of-the-art aquatic facility increase in approximately 49% more water space and 55% more floor space. New features of the facility will include:

• New junior leisure pool
• Full hydroslide rebuild and replacement
• Existing pool hall upgrade works
• New plant and equipment
• Electric heat pump to replace the existing gas heating
• New learn-to-swim and programme pool
• Upgrade and extension to existing reception, café and offices

Date: Tuesday 3 December
Time: Registration from 4.30pm, followed by induction and site tour.
Venue: H20 Xtream Aquatic Centre  
Cost:  Free for NZ Institute of Building members; $50 + GST for Non-members
PPE required: Hardhat, steel-capped shoes, high-vis vest. Weather dependent you may also wish to bring a jacket.
Where to meet: 26 Brown Street, Upper Hutt. Meet at the Brown Street gate entrance.
