New Zealand has an urgent need for quality housing that can be built quickly and affordably. In response to this demand, the use of prefabricated building systems is becoming more widespread as recognition grows of their potential to expediently deliver resilient high-quality buildings. With the quality, speed and cost of New Zealand construction under the spotlight, a building system claiming to deliver on all three deserves a closer look, according to BRANZ materials scientist Anna Walsh, who has set up a project to look at a system, which is based on the use of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs).
