Following the NZIOB’s recent election, the NZIOB is delighted to formally introduce John Hemi, the new Chair of the NZIOB National Board. Starting as a Graduate Engineer, John has held Regional and General Management roles in the industry and is currently employed at Te Waihanga (Infracom) as an Advisor on Major Projects and the Construction Sector Accord.

Record numbers of building and construction apprentices

The number of people undertaking construction-related apprenticeships such as carpentry has skyrocketed in the last year. It was announced on Wednesday at a Holmes Construction housing project in Brooklyn, Wellington, that there are currently 20,000 apprentices studying construction-related trades in New Zealand.
