NZS 3910:2013 Conditions of contract for building and civil engineering construction (NZS 3910) is used as the foundation for the majority of New Zealand contracts in the building, engineering, construction and infrastructure industry sectors (the construction sector).
NZS 3910 has not been updated since 2013. This means it has not kept pace with legislative and other changes in the construction sector, resulting in a proliferation of special conditions to the standard form for individual projects. The review of NZS 3910 has been funded jointly by industry and government, with the NZIOB being an industry contributor to the project costs.
The Construction Sector Accord and the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, Te Waihanga, have jointly commissioned a review of NZS 3910 and have engaged Standards New Zealand to lead and manage the process.
Standards New Zealand have invited organisations from within a number of sector groupings that were identified during the scoping review, to make nominations to the committee that will undertake the review. The sector groupings and organisations identified represent a broad and balanced range of views of national groups with a common interest in NZS 3910. Nominations have now closed, with the NZIOB nominating three members for positions on the NZS 3910 Standards Development Committee.
