In what has transpired to be a temporary relief from COVID-19 restrictions, July saw the return of the NZIOB’s classic ‘in-person’ site visits, with events simultaneously occurring in Auckland and Wellington on the afternoon of Thursday 23rd of July. The Auckland event involved a tour of the America’s Cup precinct (there are four syndicate bases including Team New Zealand’s).
The first stage of the site visit involved splitting the approximately 100 attendees into three groups, each led by a Wynyard Edge Alliance team member. On the tour, infrastructure works to date were outlined, including new mooring and breakwater works, and strengthening and refurbishment work to existing wharves.
The second stage of the America’s site visit involved three Wynyard Edge Alliance members providing a full project overview, not only of the physical works, but also a summary of the Resource Consent process, and the background of why an Alliance Model was chosen. On the night, the presentation was delivered by Wil Ingle (Beca), David Pattinson (McConnell Dowell), and Glen Maria (Downer).
The NZIOB would like to acknowledge the support of Carters in allowing the Institute to deliver what proved to be a popular and informative event.
