NZIOB have teamed up with Mates in Construction to bring our Southern Region members a two-part (one-day) workshop aimed at construction practitioners, to assist them in working with colleagues who may be struggling with mental health. Attendance at this workshop will help to build a stronger and more resilient workforce.
Part 1: General Awareness Training (GAT) is the first part of the Mates in Construction programme and will teach attendees with the skills to identify and assist a colleague who might be doing it tough. The GAT session takes one-hour to complete.
Part 2: A step up from the General Awareness Training, the Connector Training is a four-hour programme aiming to enhance the knowledge gained in the GAT. As a Connector, you will be trained to help keep someone in crisis safe, while at the same time possessing the tools and connections to introduce them to professional help.
