The NZIOB is looking to co-opt a board member to assist with the diversity of the board, and to plug skills gaps that are required for the NZIOB to deliver on its 2021-2023 Strategic Plan.
About the Role
The NZIOB Board is comprised of seven NZIOB members who are elected by the membership, with the Board having the ability to add up to two additional Board members via co-opt, with membership not being a prerequisite for a co-opted Board member. The term of the 2021-2023 Board concludes at the NZIOB Annual AGM in July 2023, making for a 20-month tenure for the incoming co-opt board member.
Along with a need for the co-opt to address a diversity imbalance on the Board as is, the NZIOB is looking for an incoming Board member to hold a current role (not necessarily within the construction industry) that covers one or more of the following business disciplines:
- People/Organisational Culture
- Diversity
- Communications
- Marketing
Time Commitment & Renumeration
The NZIOB Board meets bi-monthly on even numbered months. The meetings are either one-day events in-person, or three-hour virtual meetings, the actual configuration dependent on COVID-19 restrictions and a range of other considerations. An incoming Board member should allow for three in-person events to occur each year.
NZIOB Board member positions are not remunerated, while all Board travel expenses are met by the Institute.

A copy of an applicant’s resume and covering letter should be sent to the NZIOB Chief Executive, Malcolm Fleming (malcolm@nziob.org.nz). Applications close 5pm, Wednesday 17 November 2021.
