The NZIOB is delighted to acknowledge and congratulate our members who were award winners at the recent NAWIC Awards. NZIOB Fellow Dr. Linda Kestle was awarded Outstanding Leader of the Year - Office Based, Caitlin Sanford, a student member won the Student Excellence Award and Kat Ricketts, a student member won the Apprentice Excellence Award.

The NAWIC Excellence Awards programme celebrates and honour the achievements of women working in construction and affiliated industries, as well as recognising those organisations active in redressing the gender imbalance in the industry.

Special acknowledgement to Dr. Linda Kestle who was awarded Outstanding Leader of the Year - Office Based, the category that celebrates women who have made a significant leadership contribution to the construction industry in their chosen profession or field.

Linda is an Associate Professor in the School of Construction, primarily on the Bachelor of Construction programme within the areas of Sustainable Design and Construction, Design Management, Sustainable Urban Design and Professional Business Management.

She is both a Fellow and a Chartered Building Professional of the NZIOB, both of which are only awarded for extensive, high level and impactful contributions to the construction industry; a past NZIOB National Councillor and is a current member of the Northern Region Committee and is actively involved with the NZIOB Student Mentoring programme and National Student Awards programme.

Linda is extremely passionate and supportive of emerging and experienced women practitoners and researchers in the construction industry and her respect, generosity and care for people has led to many winning research awards.

We would also like to acknowledge NZIOB student members Caitlin Sanford who won the Student Excellence Award and Kat Ricketts who won the Apprentice Excellence Award. Both award categories celebrate female students and apprentices who demonstrate a high level of potential and commitment within the construction industry
