Pamela Bell - new Chair of NZCIC

LATEST NEWS

At a recent NZ Construction Industry Council (NZCIC) AGM, the Institute of Building’s CE Pamela Bell was accepted as the incoming Chair.

The NZCIC is an industry association of associations in the building and construction, design and property sectors. The membership associations who are part of the council represent about 200,000 workers of the 300,000 total workers in Aotearoa.

The NZCIC is a collaborative group for information, networking, research and advocacy towards a better built environment for all New Zealanders. It acts as a voice of the built environment industry in New Zealand and operates at the interface between government (central and local) and industry.

Pamela has been a member of the NZCIC since 2022 in her role as CE of the NZ Institute of Building and prior to that was a member from 2012-2019 as CE and founder of PrefabNZ (now OffsiteNZ).

Pamela says: “This is a role that I feel passionate about. I am lucky to come in at a time of the Executive Director, Tommy Honey, taking the lead.  My role is to support the Executive Director and help to keep the focus on collaboration and the future.”

Pamela takes over the role from Malcolm Fleming, former Institute CE and current CE of the NZ Certified Builders Association who served terms as Deputy Chair 2019 – 2022 and Chair 2022-2024.

“I follow in the footsteps of Malcolm Fleming who chaired the Council through a period of great turbulence with Covid and other changes. I’m grateful to Malcolm and the other members of the Council leadership for their support.”

Pamela is looking forward to continuing to build strong relationships with other associations, and to leading more conversations about the future of associations and preparing for a resilient future.
