We strive to be an energetic, articulate and reliable stakeholder. To provide meaningful and relevant contributions to the ongoing development of our members career pathways.
The foundations of NZIOB were built as part of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB).
NZIOB became incorporated and an independent organisation.
The Institute of Building and our members have stayed true to its two main focuses:
Development.
To provide advancement for an active and collegial construction community.
To provide continual professional development and meaningful events to our member whanau that embraces the entire sector.
Representation.
To serve as an energetic, articulate, and reliable stakeholder.
We love and strive to give our members a great membership experience.
We take on projects and represent the industry that adhere to our foundational principles:
Encouraging high performance within the construction industry, and raising standards and productivity.
Representing the construction industry and lobbying on its behalf.
Fostering construction research and innovation.
Engagement with Government.
Providing quality Continued Professional Development (CPD) events for industry.
Every two years, the Institute of Building's National Board sets its strategic direction and progress against the resulting Strategic Plan, which is evaluated every 60 days.
Our popular annual awards event has been running since 1994. Over the years it's undergone a number of name changes but the focus has remained the same. Our awards celebrate people in the building and construction industry doing great things and displaying excellence.
Our awards recognise people at all stages, places and scales – from our inspiring Next Gen already making a difference to those working in major projects on site and behind the scenes.
Established in 2017 by the New Zealand Institute of Building Charitable Trust, the NZIOB Charitable Trust Awards supports worthy individual endeavors for the betterment of the construction industry.
“How the NZIOB Charitable Trust Award has transformed what Ged could achieve in his Masters is incredible. I believe it has set him up as a potential contributor to the transformation of our industry.”
Mike Donn, Director, Centre for Building Performance Research, VUW
