In 2017 Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) won the 35th America’s Cup, held in Bermuda, over defender Oracle Team USA. Following the announcement that ETNZ would be defending the Cup in New Zealand, the America’s Cup 36 programme was established by the Crown and Auckland Council, in partnership with mana whenua and Emirates Team New Zealand to enable Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland and New Zealand to host the 36th America’s Cup in 2021.
The Wynyard Edge Alliance, formed by Auckland Council, the Crown, McConnell Dowell, Downer, Beca and Tonkin + Taylor is responsible for delivering the essential infrastructure to host the America’s Cup.
NZIOB is pleased to invite you to a site visit of the America's Cup infrastructure construction project, hosted by the Wynyard Edge Alliance. In June, the Alliance hit a key milestone, with the operational handover of the base being used by Emirates Team New Zealand. The team has now completed Hobson Wharf Extension, construction of the new breakwater structures off Halsey and Wynyard Wharves, dredging for vessels berths, repair works on Wynyard Wharf, and established building platforms for the syndicate bases on Wynyard Point.
The site visit will kick off at 4:00pm sharp. Attendees are required to bring a hi-vis vest to participate in the site tour. After seeing the progress firsthand, we will then head to the Wynyard Pavilion for a follow-up presentation as well as drinks and nibbles.
Thank you to Carters for generously sponsoring this event.
