In April 2019, the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) hosted the inaugural BIMinNZ Conference on behalf of the BIM Acceleration Committee. You can view highlights from the Conference here. The event attracted an audience of 250 + and was viewed as being successful in promoting the adoption of BIM across the New Zealand construction industry supply-chain.
The success of the Conference can be attributed to there being a very active and well-networked Conference Committee. This small group developed the 2019 Conference theme, the day’s programme, and identified the local and international practitioners to speak to the topics the group had identified. The NZIOB then realised the vision that the Conference Committee had set.
The same model is proposed for the second BIMinNZ Conference, which will be held at Te Papa in Wellington on Thursday, 10 March 2022. A small number of spots have opened up on the BIMinNZ Conference Committee, with the NZIOB seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from BIM practitioners who are strategic and well connected, to be part of the team that frames BIMinNZ 2022. It is envisaged that the time commitment would be in the order of 25 hours across the next twelve months, with half of that time being required in the first three months of the project.
If you have any questions or would like some insight into this opportunity, 2019 Conference Chair, Dennis Burns is available (e. dennis@archaus.co.nz, t 021 428 547). EOI’s should be sent to the NZIOB’s Hannah Keir-Smith (hannah@nziob.org.nz) by 5pm, Friday 12 March 2021.
